Vancouver - Vancouver Restaurants

Yopo Cafe (Yaletown Chinese Food)

Yopo Cafe (web site, 1122 Homer Street, Vancouver, BC, phone: 604-609-9676) is a tiny, bright, well kept Chinese restaurant in the upscale Yaletown shopping/restaurant district in downtown Vancouver. Lunch specials such as the lemon chicken on rice with shredded pork chow mein (pictured below) are served with soup, and are a reasonable $7.00 (or $6.45 if you get just one of the items). This restaurant is very popular for take out, and the kitchen is quite fast. They also offer an extensive Chinese food menu with over 100 items, which is pretty amazing considering their tiny kitchen. And what’s more, they provide free Chinese Food delivery to the Vancouver area for orders $20 and up, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

The Eatery (Japanese Restaurant)

The Eatery (3431 W Broadway, Vancouver, phone: 604-738-5298) is a funky Japanese restaurant that has a candle-lit night-club atmosphere and is a popular hangout for UBC students. The primary attraction here is the inventive fusion sushi rolls, with off-the-wall names such as “Andy Warhol Roll”, the “Erotica Roll”, and the “Viva Las Vegas Roll”. The specialty rolls are in the $5 to $8.50 range for a roll, and there are different specials depending on the day of the week. Pictured below is the “Assembly Line” sushi platter which has a large selection of specialty rolls ($47.50) – this enough food for four people with average appetites, or will surely satisfy two people who are very hungry.

Euro Pastry House (Yaletown Lunch)

Euro Pastry House (#114 – 1058 Mainland Street, Vancouver, phone: 604-602-0003) is a great place to stop and have a sandwich in the downtown Yaletown shopping / restaurant district. But these are not your ordinary sandwiches. Imagine a breaded chicken schnitzel with cheese and ham, cozy with fresh vegetables between two gigantic slices of marble rye bread (pictured below, $7.69 including tax). I have to say it was one of the heartiest and most satisfying sandwiches I have had in a long time. This tiny restaurant is not to be missed!
