Healthy Food - Vancouver Restaurants

Quiznos Subs Vancouver

Quiznos is a fast food chain restaurant that serves grilled subs and pizzas with fresh ingredients. Their downtown Yaletown location (206B Davie St., Vancouver, phone 604-647-0123) is a bit hard to get to because of the Canada Line construction, but is worth a visit if you’re in the area. Click here for addresses and maps to Quiznos’ other numerous locations in Vancouver.  My favorite sub at Quiznos is the Turkey Bacon Guacamole (pictured below, around $8.50), which is no longer displayed on the menu, but can be ordered on request at most locations. Quiznos is a slightly more upscale competitor to the Subway chain of sandwich restaurants, and Quiznos uses a different toasting process which I find doesn’t dry out the bread as much. The menu at Quiznos also features some vegetarian selections.

Bo Kong Vegetarian Restaurant

Bo Kong Vegetarian Restaurant (visitor reviews, 3068 Main Street, Vancouver, phone 604-876-3088) is a Buddhist Chinese restaurant that serves a large selection of tofu and gluten vegetarian dishes. You won’t miss the meat, even in dishes like the wonton soup (pictured below) or the pineapple sweet and sour delight (also pictured below). This restaurant is very popular among vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Dinner for two with soup, rice, and two dishes came to around $30.

The Templeton (Granville Street)

The Templeton (web site, address: 1087 Granville Street, Vancouver, phone: 604-685-4612) is an authentic 1950’s diner that serves modernized, surprisingly healthy food. They serve breakfast until 3pm and their “Big Breakfast” is enough for even the biggest appetities (well, maybe not the biggest, but the portions are very generous). Homemade pies, milk shakes, veggie and meat burgers, as well as fancy entrees such as Ahi-tuna, are all available at reasonable prices. Pictured below are the Mangled Eggs (under $10) which are a delicious breakfast item.
